| | | Members of the book discussion group that schoolteacher Amanda Pepper belongs to get into a heated debate over the suicide of a fictional heroine. The day after, member Helen Coulter falls to her death from a roof garden. Helen's death is declared a suicide, but Amanda is convinced otherwise and investigates.
Annotation:
Schoolteacher and private eye Amanda Pepper is dumbfounded when Helen Coulter, a tough-minded member of her book club, is found dead after having fallen three stories from the roof of her house. According to the police, Helen committed suicide. But knowing Helen as the strong-willed person that she was, Mandy has a difficult time believing she would take her own life. With help from her boyfriend, policeman C.K. Mackenzie, Mandy sets out to prove that murder was, in fact, the method of Helen's demise.
